The band plays mainly middle of the road easy listening Instrumentals and songs from the 50’s - the 1950's that is ! - to the present day.

You will hear a wide range of music from The Shadows, Sir Cliff Richard, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Chris Rea, Dire Straits, The Doobie Brothers, The Eagles, Eric Clapton and many others.

The band formed in the early eighties with David, Ken and John playing instrumentals only from The Shadows joined by Nick on drums.

The instrumentals-only format limited the band's appeal and fans persuaded them to add vocal numbers to their repertoire and this greatly increased demand for Gold.

Nick left the band and Lyndon offered to play for a New Year's Eve gig and has been with the band ever since.

Ian W A friend of ours, Ian, came along to practices and offered to build and operate a lighting desk, putting us all in the spot light, as it were.  He then went on to teach himself the keyboard and played with the band for several years before his work took him out of the county and out of the band.

The replacement for Ian was not far away, however.  Penny who always came to gigs with her drummer partner Lyndon was talked into playing the keyboards and joined GOLD in 1990. Penny also operates the lighting and FX.

GOLD has been together as a band for over twenty years, performing together mainly for their interest in music, and the friendship and enjoyment in performing live for others to enjoy.

We will keep going as long as people enjoy our music and we enjoy performing it - or until the tablets and batteries are effective no longer !
